Hope Place
A residence and recovery program serving homeless women and their children.
Located in the NewHolly neighborhood of South Seattle, The Seattle Union Gospel Mission's NEW Hope Place is more then a residence and recovery program. They exist to break the cycle and to forever change the lives of homeless women and children through supportive and long-term care, counseling, skills training and education.
Hope Place provides a safe and healthy environment, so that women and children are able to be open about their issues and get the support and unconditional love they need so that their lives can be transformed.
They provide restorative care and counseling to women and women with children who struggle with addictions, domestic violence and/or mental health issues and who have a desire to be productive and contributing member of society. To that end Hope Place also provides skills training and education.
Finally, for the kids in the program they work with their schools to verify their attitudes, behaviors, and grades. Hope Place provides counseling for the children as they grapple with their current situation and their relationships with their parents and friends. The children also receive case management and tutoring so that their lives will be just as successful as their mothers’.

Quilts for Hope
How The Quilting Loft is helping and how you can too.
Starting Tuesday, August 4th, we will be accepting any NEW & CLEAN finished quilts or quilt top donations for Hope Place. Any style of finished blanket or quilt is welcome, including tied comforters, fleece blankets, crocheted or knitted afghans, and receiving blankets in child-friendly colors. Quilt tops can be any size and must be made of 100% cotton. Quilt backing is appreciated but not required with the quilt top donation. Always remember that ALL blankets must be washable, free of pins, and free of embellishments that may detach and create an infant choking hazard. Hope Place serves mothers with children of all ages so don't forget about teens when donating a quilt or blanket.
Quilt top donations will be quilted and finished by a volunteer from The Quilting Loft. The quilting loft will also be donating the batting needed to complete the quilts. Quilt backing fabric donations are always appreciated.
Not a quilter, or don't have any that you wish to donate at this time? You can still help. Hope Place needs bed linens, towels, clothing for kids and adults, food and so much more. Just drop off any items that you wish to donate and we'll be sure to pass them along.
